A little trip to California

One of the many wonderful things about Brennan is how close he is to all his childhood and high school friends. Some of them have moved away to medical school, dental school, and to get their masters, but they are all constantly in touch, and we get together with his friends and their wives that still live here about once a week, especially if they are playing in a softball or soccer league. It is a really fun group I am very lucky to be a part of.
One of his very closest friends Brent and his wife Courtney moved to San Diego for Brent to get his masters at San Diego State University a little over a year ago and we have been promising we'd visit them! We figured October would be the perfect time. SOMEHOW, the stars aligned and The Gregory's were actually headed to Disneyland the same week! So we started our trip in San Diego for a few days, then rented a car and drove to Disneyland and flew out of John Wayne the next morning.

Things we did:

-Brennan checked an item off his bucket list and played Torrey Pines golf course. I wish I could have gone with him just to see how excited he gets playing at a cool course, but Court and I did some shopping instead! All I know is I would be in TROUBLE if I lived in San Diego with all that amazing shopping. We spent more time than I'd like to admit in the 3 story Target...

-Spent a day on Coronado Island. I can't believe it was our first time going there for both Bren and I! It's practically a crime. I have never seen such a big beach with the softest sand ever. BUT I will say my favorite part was driving up and down every inch of the island looking at the incredible homes there! They left me speechless. Hotel del Coronado was also so adorable and the Coronado Crunch at the local candy shop melted in our mouths (and it wasn't just because of the 95 degree weather).

-Got to Sunset cliffs just before sunset. The waves are huge at this beach and make a big splash up on the cliffs. It was so peaceful to sit and watch. Every night we were in San Diego there were insane sunsets.

-Went to the San Diego temple! It was sadly closed for the whole month of October for cleaning or something so we couldn't do a session there, which really bummed me out because I hear the inside is just as beautiful as the outside. The temple is by far the most prime piece of real estate in San Diego. You turn the corner on the freeway and then you see it all at once in all it's glory. It truly truly truly takes your breath away. We also went back at night to see it all lit up because we just couldn't get enough!

-Spent the afternoon in La Jolla, another awesome area of San Diego. We ate at a Burger Lounge there which was DELISH-- their lavender mint lemonade and salads were divine. All clean ingredients which I always appreciate. We hung out with the sea lions for a while too. Even though they totally make the beach smell terrible, they are hilarious to watch flop around.

-Ate at Stacked at Fashion Valley mall. Another place we'd really recommend. One of the best burgers we've EVER had.

-DISNEYLAND!!! We only went for one day so we wouldn't miss too much work but it ended up working out perfectly. We were able to every ride we wanted to at both Disneyland and California Adventure even though we happened to choose the hottest and most crowded day of the year to go to Disneyland... little did we know. Even though we were melting in the heat and exhausted by the end of the day, it was absolutely magical. After getting off the Cars ride for both mine and Bren's first time, grabbing a churro, and walking hand in hand, we turned to each other and said "I think we are becoming Disneyland people." Hahahaha. It was even more special being able to see my niece and nephews see Disneyland for the first time. Ez chose to sit by me on the teacups and Space Mountain and I was on CLOUD 9.

And that was our fun little trip to California.

ALSO! I've gotten a few questions about where I got my swimsuit. Back in June I was looking through the swimsuits on sale online on Nordstrom and found it for $30! The brand is actually Roxy and I found it here on sale as well. I will warn that the Nordstrom reviews said it ran pretty small so I went with a medium and am glad I did.

My own personal Michelangelo

I am seriously married to the coolest person ever.

So cool and so talented that I might even let him keep his little Yoda he drew last minute.

...or maybe we'll move him behind the door.

The studio chalkboard wall is off to a fantastic start!

It has taken a little longer than I expected to get everything ready,

but I am so excited to announce that classes begin Monday, November 2nd!!!

I cannot even wait to start my dream job.

I will be posting more details on my Instagram soon!

House Update

This whole house building thing is a full time job.

A STRESSFUL full time job.

I wake up, look at my phone and see it's 4 AM, and start wondering if the color I chose for the front door might have a pink undertone if the sunlight hits it weird? And did I put enough canned lights in the basement? And what if they forget to insulate my walls? Do they vacuum all the dust up before they install carpet?

It is TOO MUCH. Especially because I've made a few bold choices. I thought building a house would be a smart move for a type A personality, but I'm not so sure now...

It is so fun though to go check on the house progress everyday. It's crazy that soon we will be living there! Brennan is so excited to park in a garage for the first time in his life and I am so excited to have a pantry I could cry.

Last night we randomly watched The Office episode where Michael buys a condo and we just about rolled off the couch we were laughing so hard because it was so relatable at this point in our lives.

"A 30 year mortgage? You'll be paying that off in your mid-seventies. Forget about retiring when you're 65." -Dwight

"I made the right decision. I'm glad I signed, I'm a home owner, right? It's very important to own a property. If you don't own property you shouldn't be able to vote." -Michael trying to make himself feel better.

HAHAHAHAHA
