Mr.'s Turn

I love that a few of my friends (Olivia Gochnour & Kenzie Baugh) have picked up on this little "random facts" blog post. I wish everyone would do it! I thought it was only fitting to do one for my favorite person of all time, and kind of the star of this blog (insert wink emoji here). But to keep things interesting, I included only things I've learned about him since we've been married. Here are some random facts about Brennan:

His breakfasts are the same as an 8 year old's breakfast: cereal, eggos, or cinnamon sugar toast, with chocolate milk. Sometimes I make him eat a banana with it so he gets some sort of nutrition.

He loves to hold newborn babies.

He thinks I use too much toilet paper.

He looks like a little boy when he's sleeping and it absolutely melts my heart.

He can imitate ANYONE. Obama is my personal favorite.

He has very vivid dreams.

He always knows where to get the best priced gas, but if it's too cheap, he thinks the gas is water and won't let me get it because my car won't run as well...

Sometimes I tell Brennan to come cuddle with me and he says, "There's no room for me! Just like when there was no room for Jesus at the inn."

He sings & dances in the shower and while he gets ready.

He is ALWAYS upbeat and happy to be wherever he has to be.

He is a worrier.

He sometimes watches the same SportsCenter episode multiple times.

He doesn't have the Facebook app on his phone.

His poor little car, Jeter the Jetta, has broken down 4 times in the 5 months we've been married. We have mastered the art of living with just one car.

He hasn't missed one class this semester.

He has more shoes than me.

He doesn't believe in growing pains and thinks he's never had them...

When he was little he would wait for his mom to go upstairs and then run to the fridge and chug Hershey's chocolate syrup straight from the bottle.

There you have it! This post is such a fun read, I hope you do one!

xoxo

5 Months

Ignore the fact that this picture is not high quality.

Ignore the fact my bangs are completely in my face, and that I just wore these pants on Valentine's Day.

Instead, focus on the fact that on this very night exactly five months ago,

we were standing under this little gazebo as bride & groom!

The best day of our lives.

It was so fun to happen to be at Wadley Farms that night for my friend Ashley's wedding dinner and reminisce of our very own night there only 5 months ago.

It feels like it's flown by but at the same time I can't really remember my life before him,

and definitely can't imagine a day without him now.

Here's to 5 months and about 5 billion more months together!

Valentine's Day

Last Valentine's Day, our first one we spent together, we went all out. Got work off, got couples massages, had shirts made that said "I ♥ Brennan" and "I ♥ Ashley", made him these homemade orange rolls he loves with my grandma the night before, went to Porcupine Grill and a movie, and then he gave me my A+B initial necklace and the journal that started this whole blog. I will never forget that day.

This year's Valentine's Day was much more laid back, but it still beats last year's because we are married now, and nothing is better than that.

We both had to work until 6, because somebody's gotta pay the bills, and as I got home (to my parents' house because they are in Hawaii, so we are watching Ari, 2 dogs, and 2 fish for a week), I saw this sitting on the kitchen table.

The first thing I grabbed was the card, which was in an envelope but I was too excited to read it before taking a picture.

I was instantly crying. (He must know my love language is words of affirmation.) The only reason I post the card is because I know that someday, somehow, this card will get lost, but I refuse to forget all the sweet words he says to me.

All I needed for Valentine's was that card, but the lovely roses & Cole Haan metallic oxfords I had been DROOLING over at the store were the cherry on top!

When Brennan got home a few minutes later, I kissed him to pieces for the amazing surprise and made him open his gift, which was a denim jacket he had been wanting, a camo tee, and some darling baseball tees that I can't wait for him to look so cute in.

This is the first holiday that I bought him clothes, which is huge, because if you know my husband, you know he is a very particular dresser. He tried his new things on and loved them, then changed for date night, snapped a shot of our first Valentine's married, and off to dinner we went!

We stuck with tradition and went to Porcupine, our favorite place to go, then grabbed some ice cream and headed home to cuddle and watch a movie because none of the chick flicks in theaters sounded very promising this year. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Being married to him makes it feel like everyday is Valentine's Day (so cheesy yet so true), but I love a holiday that lets us be extra extra romantic for the day. I am so lucky he lets me be his permanent Valentine.

Some Random Facts About Me

I am fully aware that 90% of my posts are about Brennan, and the other 10% is about our life, and I like it that way, because he really is our better half and I could talk about him for days. But I realized that I've never really written anything about myself, which now that I think about it is actually kind of odd, since I write this online journal. So, I present you with a few random facts about me...

Speaking of the picture, I bought my wedding dress before I was engaged. Risky, huh?

When I was 8 or 9 I wanted glasses so bad, I begged my mom to make me an appointment with an eye doctor and lied my way through the whole thing. I didn't fool him unfortunately. He had me step out into the hall and told my mom I have 20/20 vision.

I am probably one of the most hygienic, clean people you will ever meet. Brennan thinks I'm a bit OCD about it. I have to brush my teeth after every meal (when I can help it), I shower every morning and night, wash our sheets twice a week and pillowcases sometimes 3 times.

I love Oreos. Last week I ate a whole package minus the 3 that Brennan ate. Whoops.

I am extremely hard on myself.

I watch The Kardashians and I am not ashamed. But my all time favorite TV show is The O.C. And lately we've been on a Shark Tank kick.

I keep a very clean house, but if you were to go into our second bedroom that I use as my closet and space to get ready, you would see a large mound of my clothes on the floor.

I was in Disneyland when 9/11 happened, and since it closed and all airports closed, we had to rent a car and drive home.

I am left handed. It's a great excuse for a lot of things.

I always try to dress for the season. Fall is my favorite season to dress for.

When I see an old person sitting alone at a restaurant or if I can sense that someone is having a hard day it makes me want to cry, and sometimes I do.

To say I am obsessed with Lauren Conrad is an understatement. I have loved her since the first season of Laguna Beach. I even follow her wedding photographer on Instagram.

I have to eat fresh fruit every single day.

My mom is my best friend.

I am obsessed with skincare.

I love to give people gifts. I put a lot of thought into them. I learned this from my mom.

I LOVE to cook, but don't do it as often as I should. (It's so expensive for 2 people!)

I am addicted to shopping, but I figure there are worse addictions out there. I've come a LONG way since my pre-married days. I now shop the clearance racks at Target instead of J. Crew & Anthro like the old days.

I have a high stress job but I really like it because it's something new everyday.

My hair is in a bun on the top of my head 3 days in a row most weeks because I'd rather sleep in than wash it.

My toes are always the same temperature as ice cubes.

Brennan always tells me I need to have more confidence in myself. He is probably right.

I ordered salad shakers from McDonalds instead of kids meals when I was a little girl.

September is my favorite month because it's peach season (my all time favorite fruit), New York fashion week, the merging of my two favorite seasons, the perfect temperature, and of course my wedding month!

I will not eat onions in fear of bad breath.

I like to shop alone.

I always tip, even if the service was terrible, because of my fear of karma.

I will put a new song I love on repeat until I've ruined it.

The notes app in my phone is full of ideas that come to me, funny things Brennan says, grocery lists, and things I need to do.

3 summers ago I saved up $300 to get a pit ticket to the Katy Perry concert and she touched my hand. I would say I'm definitely in the running for her biggest fan. She is classy, hilarious, beautiful, down to earth and makes such feel-good music. I love her I love her I love her.

I hate my handwriting.

Both of my all time favorite restaurants are in Scottsdale: Sol and Grimaldi's.

I prefer a night in to a night out 90% of the time.

Well there you have it. I can't wait to look back at this and laugh at myself, and see what changes and what has stayed the same.

The First Look

If I could relive one moment, this may just be it.

How lucky am I to have a boy who reacts like THAT!?!?

He made me feel like at least 10 billion dollars.

Like the only thing that matters to him on this planet.

Time stood still my friends.

I am so grateful for an amazing photographer who captured this moment,

so when I'm feeling nostalgic and look back at it, I can relive that special moment again.

Because the first look is one of, if not the number one, most magical moment of the whole wedding ordeal.

My heart is full.

A Night with the Littles

On Friday, Brennan & I got to hang out with our favorite people ever, Greta & Ezra Gregory while their oldest brother Jude had a night planned with his parents. It was perfect timing because this weekend, the sing-a-long version of Frozen was in theaters! I was so excited to take them I couldn’t even wait until work was over.

Bren picked them up on his way home from work, and they came running into our condo along with their Elsa, Ana, & Sven dolls all ready to go.  We asked them where they wanted to go to dinner and they screamed, “McDonalds!!!” and I said, “Where did you go for lunch today?” and they screamed, “McDonalds!!!” so we thought they probably shouldn’t go there twice in one day and headed to Chick-Fil-A.

Greta ordered a side salad, her favorite food because it has cherry “tome-ate-toes”, and even though we got some dirty looks from people who thought we were forcing our daughter to eat salad, she was in heaven. Bren introduced Ez to dipping his fries in ranch, and he went to town, finishing all his dinner, and even chugged Greta’s chocolate milk when she wasn't looking. After they played in the play place for a bit, we headed to Target to kill some time and get some movie treats. But as soon as we stepped foot inside, Ez & Greta let go of our hands and started booking it for the toy aisles.

After we finally got them to leave the toy aisles, they picked out some gummy ring pops and sour patch watermelons and off to the movie we went!

The cutest part of the whole night was when “Let It Go” came on during the movie and Greta ran down to the front of the theater and started dancing and singing right along with it. She can’t read yet, but she still knew every single word and dance move to every song in the movie. After she did that, every other kid in the theater came down to the front and danced to all of the rest of the songs too. HOW CUTE IS THAT.

Things I learned that night:
1. Little kids don’t walk, they run. At all times.
2. They don’t watch for cars.
3. They are more interested in crayons & coloring than eating.
4. You have to ask them if they need to go potty.
5. They don’t close the stalls when they go potty.
6. They want to play with their kid’s meal toys while they go potty.
7. They make you laugh harder than any adult can.
8. They get a lot of stares from people, both good and bad.
9. It takes twice as long to get anywhere.
10. There really are no words for how special they are.

It was such a fun night, and although Brennan said he doesn't want kids for 5 years now, we all know he’s not kidding anyone, because it's not birth control when the kids are this cute. Even though we aren’t ready to be mom & dad for a long time, it was sure fun to play them for the night!
